The Pizza Box Flyer (PBF) is the most unorthodox airplane design. I found about PBF in this website. Its noting more than a square piece of coro sheet with an engine to haul it around. Nevertheless, the 3D performance of this square board should not be underestimated. If build right, the model can perform nerve whacking 3D moves. In fact, every time I fly my PBF, I am always on my toe tips... Can't beat the feeling when you hover the PBF 3 feet before you.. Not to mention the OOOHHs and AAHHs from the spectators (and your balsa flying buddies). Its such an exciting experience. My PBF is built out of 5mm square coro board. I had a OS 46 LA engine for the power. Since the airplane is just a thing square board, it will not generate sufficient lift as conventional airplane wings produce. So, you have to fly the PBF always at an angle with its nose pointed up (High alpha flight). I do not have close up pictures of my PBF, because it was crashed shortly after few flight. I used the OS 46 LA engine on my red spitfire. So, may be sometime later when I get bit by the PBF bug, I will build one. And did I say that I made this PBF from scratch in just 3 hours... Anyway,... here is a short video of the PBF. The camera man just go too creative. Never mind the camera shakes.
